• Lipstick and lipgloss packaging supplier?

  I am looking for MAXIMUM pieces of empty lipstick and lip gloss tubes/packaging. No frills or labels, the lipsticks should be plain black plastic (or aluminum) and 12.7 mm cup size. The lip gloss tube should be clear, the wand/lid can be basically any color, and no more than 3.5-4mL in volume.

  I’ve been talking to many different packaging companies and they all have a 10k-20k minimal order, it also looks like virtually nobody keeps inventory. I checked McKernan Packaging and they have a lip gloss tube that might work but I don’t think they have the wiper insert that’s the right size for it. The lipsticks they have also don’t fit our molds. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. I’m in NYC metro area. If you know someone who has an overstock or discontinued packaging that fits my description, please let me know!

• We run into the same minimum order problem, and no packaging supplier wants to keep that much inventory, even with stock packaging - it costs too much money to just hope that someone will eventually buy them.

  There is a  significant cost savings per tube, though, if you can afford to invest 10K. One of the strategies we’ve used successfully is to sign a contract guaranteeing a 10K purchase, but getting delivery (and being billed) monthly. Of course, there’s an extra charge for this, but it’s usually less than the cost of carrying that much packaging inventory in our warehouse. I think your best bet will be making a deal with Qosmedix - http://www.qosmedix.com/ They already have all the lipgloss tubes you will need, and you can probably get them to source the lipstick tubes for you.

• I checked Qosmedix, they have the lip gloss tubes but not the wiper for them, at least I don’t think so, but I contacted them anyway.

  We really can’t invest into 10k units. Like I said, max, preferably less. The person who had my job before I did, she was the one who ordered lip product components, and of course didn’t leave any information about what suppliers she used…

• If you don’t have invoices and records of what supplier got paid how much, when, and for what, you have far bigger problems than just trying to source components.

  You may need to hire a consultant for more  help with finding tubes, etc.
